Bangladesh District Eye Care Program – Vision Bangladesh

In 2017 CECRC signed a contract with Sightsavers for a three-year project. Under this project, CECRC performed 2,625 free and subsidized cataract surgeries, obtained training in the country and abroad on ophthalmic activities and management, and purchased equipment for OPD and Operation Theatre.

Our legacy of service and impact

Vision Bangla, Project Phase-II

2015

In 2015, CECRC signed an agreement with Government, BRAC and Sightsavers for VISION BANGLA Project Phase-II, to deliver free cataract surgeries among the ultra-poor at Rangpur City Corporation, Mithapukur and Kaunia. It was the largest Eye Care Program in Bangladesh. Through this program total 4,170 Cataract Surgeries were done by CECRC.

Associate Partner of Horizontal Learning Program

2012

CECRC signed a partnership program with Horizontal Learning Program (HLP) and Horizontal Learning for Community Clinic (HLCC) Program for Good Practices at Union level, supported by World Bank and LGRD.

Program for Freedom Fighters of Bangladesh

2010

CECRC implemented a program for the freedom fighters of Bangladesh to deliver free eye care services. It was a unique program which was run by the chairman of CECRC.

Social Assistance for Destitute (SAD)

CECRC signed an agreement with SAD, Dhaka, to deliver free eye care services, cataract and other ocular surgeries through eye camp among the ultra-poor community at Saidpur, Nilphamary, Dinajpur, Bogura and Rangpur. Total Cataract and Ocular other Surgery done: 1,277

Urban Partnership for Poverty Reduction Project (UPPRP)

CECRC ran a program with Urban Partnership for Poverty Reduction Project (UPPRP) of Rangpur Pourashava, Rangpur, funded by DFID and UNDP for providing eye care services and free cataract surgeries to the urban slum dwellers of Rangpur City. Cataract Surgery done: 240

Kurigram Trust Partnership

CECRC and Kurigram Trust, Dhaka, signed an agreement in 2010, for working together to eradicate cataract blindness and provide primary eye care services to the poor community of this region with free of cost. Cataract surgery done: 101

Action against Lenticular Opacity (ALO)

CECRC and Islamic Relief, a UK registered INGO, took-up jointly program named "Action against Lenticular Opacity (ALO)" from August 2002 up to 2008, for providing cataract surgeries at free or nominal cost amongst the poor patients in Greater Rangpur district. Cataract Surgery done: 3,500

Rotary Club Partnerships

Rotary Club of Rangpur Central made an agreement with CECRC in 2003. CECRC provided technical support without any charge or with a nominal cost to the Rotary Club of Rangpur Central, Rotary Club of Rangpur, Rotary Club of Dhaka Buriganga and Rotary Club of Dhaka Northwest. BRAC Partnership

BRAC and CECRC worked together for providing eye care support to the poor people in this region, from September 2005 up to 2007. Cataract Surgery done: 741

Eye Care Worldwide Netherlands
