30-bed modern eye care hospital serving Northern Bangladesh

Community Eye Care and Research Center (CECRC), the organization has established a 30 bed modern eye care hospital named 'Community Eye Care and Research Center' (a sister concern of RBRMF) in 1999 to address the global goal "Vision 2020: The right to sight" at Rangpur district city. With a view to providing eye health services to support socio-economic development, CECRC picked the theme 'Fight for Sight'.

CECRC is a 30 bed eye hospital. The activities of CECRC are:

  • Eye care services and refraction through outdoor services.
  • Advice on treatment of eye diseases and creation of increased awareness about eye disease.
  • Surgery facilities on various kinds of eye diseases.
  • Training to volunteers/staff working in the OPD and field.
  • Dispensing of low cost spectacle.
  • Emergency treatment.

Our Story

From humble beginnings to a center of excellence

The Beginning

Community Eye Care and Research Center (CECRC) was established in 1999 with a vision to address the global goal "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight" in Rangpur district. With a theme of "Fight for Sight," we began our journey to provide quality eye care services to the underserved communities of Northern Bangladesh.

Growth and Development

Starting as a small initiative, CECRC has grown into a 30-bed modern eye care hospital, serving thousands of patients annually. Our commitment to excellence and compassionate care has made us a trusted name in eye health across the region.

Our Achievements

Over the years, we have:

  • Performed over 50,000 successful surgeries
  • Served 8 districts across Rangpur Division
  • Trained hundreds of health workers and volunteers

Our Vision

Community Eye Care and Research Center (CECRC), dreams to be a center of excellence in 'Eye Care Services & Research' in the Northern Region of Bangladesh having its activities focused to this Region but not limited to any limits of boundary, to serve humanity in managing the avoidable blindness in the most effective way and to continue enhancing capacity in order to incorporate services for other health related issues too.

Our Mission

  • Reduction of poverty through promoting the eye health awareness build-up in Rangpur Division to prevent the eye diseases and support the underserved poor community people through curative interventions especially for cataract blindness, Childhood blindness, Refractive error and low vision.
  • Arrange seminar, workshop, campaign for awareness development on health hazard issues and coordinate with all levels to implement new ideas and planning for improving community eye care.
  • Arrange outreach programs throughout the year for screening treatable blind patients and visually impaired person for providing them proper eye care services in the underserved rural and sub-urban areas at low cost.
  • Take integrated program for enforcement and implementation of National Eye Care Plan.
  • Work for the achievement of WHO's program 'VISION 2020: The Right to Sight'.
  • Organize eye care training for health workers of GO, NGO and private sectors, local administrators, school teachers, local volunteers, and social workers.
  • Organize school sight testing for the student's at school level to prevent childhood blindness, low vision and build-up awareness.
  • Establish several "vision centers" in different remote places to provide quality eye care services to the people of this region at their doorstep.
